Ghost Trail (Blender Geometry+Shader Nodes)

Simple ghost trail effect made with Blender Geometry Nodes and Shader Nodes. Also works for animated characters.

Instructions:

  • -The base object must be a mesh or to be converted to one (either manually or via geonodes).
  • -You need to create a "copycat" object (doesn't matter what it is so long as it's a mesh).
  • -Select the copycat, and in the modifiers tab, add the geonodes setup, and assign the base object to it.


For higher rate of copies than per frame, adjust Time Stretching (under Scene>FrameRange).
For multiple objects and only 1 copycat, you can just add a setup like this (or put them in a group and use a Collection Node instead):
